History has many stories which speak of people being Initiated into Spiritual Light and Sound. The Baptism of Jesus and the Revelation given by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita are two examples.
The twentieth century produced many Masters each with their own Teachings and particular approach to Spirituality. However, most of what was taught was very similar. The Key was always Meditation and progress was generally measured by Revelation. The disciple was helped, often through a series of Initiations, to contact and be Guided by the Light and Sound Energies. These acted like two sherpas helping an explorer climb a mountain.
In the early 1900s Seekers were expected to relinquish their normal lives and become ascetics or monks. They pushed their bodies and minds to the limit through their extreme lifestyles. Even so, only a few would become aware of the Spiritual Realms and of those only a tiny number would ever attain true Enlightenment.
However, towards the end of the century things became much easier. There were still lifestyle restrictions such as vegetarianism and abstinence from alcohol and drugs but Meditators could live in the World and have families and regular occupations.
Preparation
This would initially be about lifestyle changes and learning simple meditations such as focusing on the breath. Stretching exercises and forms of Hatha Yoga might also be taught.
Once a regular practice had been established a disciple may be given a personal Mantra. This would be said internally and kept secret. It would be seen as a special present from the Teacher or Master.
Gradually time spent on the cushion would be increased to typically two hours a day, with longer periods at the weekends.
First Initiation
When the Aspirant was considered ready they might receive the First Initiation. This was generally done by Touch from the Master or one of his/her Adepts.
This would be understood as opening chakras to reveal the Light and Sound. The Meditator would also receive guidance to help them contact the Spiritual Energies more easily. This took a tremendous amount of perseverance and devotion. Devotion to the Truth and the Master!
The Meditator would discover many Spiritual Landmarks such as the Geometric Regions and the 1000 petalled Lotus spoken about in eastern scriptures. Again they were generally forbidden to speak about these Revelations as it was seen as egotistical.
Second Initiation
After many years of service the Initiate might be selected to receive a Second Initiation. This again would be a Transference of Energy directly from the Master or one of their Adepts. This would give the Meditator the potential to pass through the Mind Tunnel and enter the Void. Upon doing so they would separate from their mind and Realise absolutely that death was just an illusion!
This would result in immense Freedom and the Knowledge of immortality. To know this would change their attitude towards life and most would see clearly the limits of materialism.
Many Meditators at this stage would become teachers and play important roles in supporting the Master and their Mission.
Enlightenment
Finally, a chosen few might be selected to receive a third Initiation so they could transcend all the Levels of Light and Sound and reach the summit!
This might require weeks of Meditation in a monastic environment. Often the Meditator would receive help from other members of the group who would look after them during this crucial time.
If they were successful (not all were) then they would merge with the Oneness and completely lose their sense of Self. They would realise the illusion of separation that is inflicted on all humans at the time of their birth.
Some may choose to serve the Master and become Teachers. Of those, a few might be given the ability to Initiate and become Adepts.
As Enlightenment has no limits or constrictions, some may choose to return to the World and live more ordinary lives.
Today
There still exists a number of Light and Sound Paths. However, the main thrust of Spirituality is through Spontaneous Awakenings. Lifestyles are therefore varied and people tend to lead relatively normal lives. The time of Masters and big organisations seems to be fading with the emphasis now on people Meditating alone and discovering Spirituality for themselves.
The Journey, these days can be short, taking only a few months. The time depends on many factors, but the desire for Truth and being able to Meditate properly are the most important. As with all endeavours, success comes to those that put in the effort and have the right attitude; in this case openness and devotion are the keys.
Many Meditators seem to be in touch with Intelligences that reside in the Spiritual Realms. An example is given below:
From where We sit, because of human frailties, it has become necessary to bring down huge amounts of Energy to address the imbalances of your planet. There are many of you already helping in this task. What We are asking is for people to look to their hearts and bring about massive changes by addressing three major issues:
ACCEPTANCE, LOVE, FORGIVENESS
With these three issues uppermost in people’s minds your World will be helped immeasurably.
